Preparation: Each participant should make pottery using your own clay designed for Cone 10 firing. Bisque the pottery before bringing it to STARworks. If you desire to include glazed pottery for this wood firing, participants should use your own glaze designed to fire to Cone 10-12. Kiln post heights are 4.5” and 9” (if participants make pottery less than this size, we can load more pottery into the kiln). We will also need taller pots on top shelves – around 18”.

Important details: Participants are required to take part in all stages of firing including loading, firing, unloading and clean up. A Wood firing workshop involves firing and dealing with firewood. You will be working on uneven ground, so it could be dangerous. Safety instructions will be provided by STARworks Ceramics, but Carolina Clay Guild and STARworks Ceramics will not take any responsibility for injuries. The firing will include many factors that can not be controlled, so there is no guarantee of results from the firing.

How to register: Payment and completed registration form must be mailed to Carolina Clay Guild, PO Box 5656, Greensboro, NC 27435 by September 4, 2010. Due to the nature of this workshop, there will be no refund of workshop fees unless the workshop is cancelled by Carolina Clay Guild. Click here for Registration Form.
